 Professional Profile: Jeffrey Frieden is Professor of Government at Harvard University. He specializes in the politics of international monetary and financial relations. Frieden’s most recent book is Global Capitalism: Its Fall and Rise in the Twentieth Century (2007). He is also the author of Banking on the World: The Politics of American International Finance (1987), and of Debt, Development, and Democracy: Modern Political Economy and Latin America, 1965-1985 (1991). Frieden is co-author (with David Lake and Kenneth Schultz) of World Politics: Interests, Interactions, Institutions (2009). He is also co-editor (with Ernesto Stein) of The Currency Game: Exchange Rate Politics in Latin America (2001); (with Manuel Pastor and Michael Tomz) of Modern Political Economy and Latin America: Theory and Policy (2000); (with David Lake) of International Political Economy fifth edition (2010); (with Barry Eichengreen) of The Political Economy of European Monetary Unification second edition (2001) and of Forging an Integrated Europe (1998); (with Barry Eichengreen and Jürgen von Hagen) of Monetary and Fiscal Policy in an Integrated Europe (1995) and of Politics and Institutions in an Integrated Europe (1995); (with Erik Jones and Francisco Torres) of Joining Europe's Monetary Club: The Challenges for Smaller Member States (1998); and (with Daniel Gros and Erik Jones) of The New Political Economy of EMU (1998) Frieden is also the author of many articles on the politics of international economic issues that have appeared in a wide variety of scholarly and general-interest publications.
