Professional Profile:  Gary Dushnitsky is an Associate Professor of Strategic and International Management and Entrepreneurship at the London Business School. Prior to joining LBS, Gary served as a faculty member at the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania),where he was a Goergen Fellow, Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs.Gary’s research focuses on the economics of entrepreneurship and innovation. He developed a widely recognized body of research on the topic of corporate venturing where he explores the conditions under which established corporations succeed, or fail, to partner with innovative startups, and the implication to corporate innovativeness. In a recent stream of research, Gary investigates the emergence of novel markets for ideas, including online venture capital markets and virtual marketplaces for patents. Gary has extensive experience leading executive and graduate programs in North America, Europe, and Asia. He advises corporations on a host of corporate venturing issues, and has been involved in several reports including the Ernst & Young Corporate Venture Capital Report (2008-9).His academic accomplishments include a number of noteworthy distinctions, such as the inaugural Kauffmann Junior Faculty Fellowship (2009) by the Ewing Marion Kauffmann Foundation, the Sumatra Ghoshal Practice & Research Award (2007), and the Strategic Management Society McKinsey Best Paper Prize (2003).Gary’s research has been published in a wide range of leading scientific journals, including Organization Science, Research Policy, Strategic Management Journal, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, and Journal of Business Venturing. His studies have been covered by Business Week, Dow Jones News, Entrepreneur Magazine, Knowledge@Wharton, Les Echos, and Red Herring.

Gary currently serves as an elected member of the Executive Committee of the Business Policy and Strategy division (Academy of Management) as well as an elected representative for the Strategy and Entrepreneurship group (Strategic Management Society). He is also a member of the editorial review board's top academic journals such as Organization Science and the Journal of Business Venturing.
