Main Topics: innovation, competitive advantages acquisition, intrapreneurship, entrepreneurship

Professional Profile: Raphaël Cohen is a clinical professor at Thunderbird University (Phoenix) and obtained his Ph.D. in business administration in 1982 while managing the international group of companies, including several start-ups, which he still directs. His working experience on 3 continents led him to develop expertise in strategic analysis and business development, management, negotiation, HR, coaching and mentoring, financial engineering, legal affairs (intl. taxation, licensing, real estate, M&A, etc.), asset management, turning-around businesses, interim and crisis management.
One of his companies was for instance the first one to introduce adult garments with Walt Disney prints in North America when no other Disney licensee believed it was possible to sell Mickey Mouse to adults! Because he has extensive experience in many areas of business such as finance and banking, software, fashion, recreation, education, real estate, retail, construction, telecom, internet, life sciences, industry, etc., he has a broad view of business practice. As active CEO and business angel, he brings his hands-on experience to his lecturing and consulting activities providing coaching and management services to senior executives, bankers, directors, intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs.
The IpOp (Innovation by Opportunity) Model he has developed leads intrapreneurs to identify, analyze and seize opportunities bringing competitive advantages to their company. The IpOp Model is recognized as one of the most sophisticated tool to manage the ideation stage of innovation and business development, particularly when it is supported by the software application he has developed. Raphael thus trains executives in large organizations willing to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurial behavior. His book on the subject has been published in 2006.
He serves on the board of several companies, including a Swiss bank and is a regular contributor to L'Agefi, PME Magazine and other business publications.
In addition to his lecturing and teaching activities, he designed and manages the University Of Geneva Certificate Of Executive Education in Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship, which leads to the first Executive MBA in Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship in Europe, as well as the management skills education programs for physicians and executives at HUG (the Geneva University Hospitals) and other institutions. He is also the MBA European Academic Program Director of Thunderbird University. He has until 2002 designed and managed the first four CREATE courses of Entrepreneurship for engineers and scientists at both University of Geneva and EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology).
