She is the first woman and the first non-German to hold this position. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Roche and a research affiliate at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) London.<\/p>\n<p>Previously she worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank in Washington, and the OECD Development Centre. She has served on the Council of Economic Advisors of Switzerland, advising the Swiss government on economic policy.
